Standard Berkshires are the stakes I have settled on for my Pennsylvania canine trapping. I drive a 1/2” rod first to serve as a pilot hole and the stake can be driven easily with any 3/8” pointed rod. (1/2” rod can be used as well if the proper point in ground on the end) Approximate length of the cables on the stakes I use is 9” from the end to the top ferrule. This length works well for me in the shale ground of central PA but is far too short for soft soils.
